Meet the Artist
Frances Clayton
Scott Rensberger, journalist, Hoosier Monkey Media
“I was shocked by the number of young women fighting breast cancer. I wanted to help out any way I could by creating a beautiful piece of art. This bra was named after Frances Clayton, a woman who fought a battle, albeit not like the courageous women battling breast cancer. Frances disguised herself as a man and enlisted with the Union Army during the Civil War. She fought side by side with her husband until he was killed in battle in 1862. Frances Clayton was eventually discharged after her true identity was discovered but it wasn't until she fought in 17 battles and was wounded three times for her country.”
