“With my job I don't have much time to get involved with volunteering, but a friend got me involved with Bra Art. This project allowed me to do something creative that hopefully would benefit the organization much more financially than just making a donation.”

Eric Kehe, 9NEWS director of photography
“I agreed to participate for several reasons. First, my friend, Joni Goheen, who conceived the Bra Art project, asked. Second, there are many people in my life, including my eldest sister, who have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Anything I can do to raise awareness and/or money—even decorate a bra—makes me feel like I’m doing something to help. Finally, I am the director of photography for 9NEWS. Every year you will find me at the end of the Race for the Cure taking pictures, shooting live shots and celebrating life. I am inspired and awed by the racers and walkers who participate in the race. They make me a better person and put life in its proper perspective. This is just one more way for me to stay involved with the Komen Foundation. God bless and stay strong. Enjoy the “Boob Tube.”

“My mother is an 18-year survivor of breast cancer. I remember exactly how I felt, where I was, and how I reacted when she called me with the news. The fear of losing her was unlike anything I had ever known. To me, there is no worse enemy to health than cancer. It is a disease that has no boundary or discretion. When a friend asked me to participate in this project, there was no hesitation. How can I not help find a cure??”

Kathleen LaCamera, journalist & hospital chaplain, PictureWise Productions
“I’m delighted to contribute my modest creation, which I call 'Elegant Owl', to this most worthwhile auction. In both my work as a hospital chaplain and a journalist I have encountered people and their families who are living with cancer. It is so easy to feel overwhelmed and impotent in the face of such a difficult and challenging illness. But over and over again these people have inspired me with their heroism, humor, hope and generosity of spirit. With them in mind, I created Elegant Owl as a tribute to their wisdom, sense of humor and beauty.”

Stacy L. Libby, hairstylist
“A really close friend of mine lost her mother from breast cancer when she was only 16. I am so close with my mother and could not imagine a second without her, that from the moment Lisa came into my life and shared that part of her life with me, I have done all that I can to help the fight against breast cancer. MT Forever!”
