Bev Chapman, TV news reporter, KMBC-TV, Kansas City, MO
“My mother is a breast cancer survivor and I am a supporter of many efforts to fund research and wellness programs for cancer patients. While I have artistic aspirations, I rarely act on them. This project gave me an opportunity to do that. I grew up fly-fishing in Missouri and recently got a refresher course from my 87-year-old father while on a vacation in Colorado. Some of the lures on this piece were made by the two of us when I was a little girl.”

Michelle Field, Mrs. Colorado International 2009
“When I won the title of Mrs. Colorado International 2009, one of my goals was to use the power of the crown to support more organizations than just my personal platform of Boy Scouts of America. During my reign, I have had the honor of supporting organizations like the American Heart Association and Cystic Fibrosis. When I was asked to participate in Bra Art, I jumped right in. As a queen, I am often the center of attention, but my true endeavor is to support the real heroes of our state, those whose lives inspire us all.”

Joni Goheen, marketing extraordinaire, Jay & Associates
John Goheen, journalist/educator“Bra Art was inspired by our three courageous nieces, all of whom are
currently battling breast cancer and are between the ages of 18 and 22. For one of them, her breast cancer fight started when she was 13. Their positive attitudes are amazing and force one to look at the glass as half full. We love their spirits and dedicate this bra and project to Tessie, Katie, and Becky.” Joni GoheenThis bra can be viewed at the Co-Art Gallery throughout the month of October.
Peggy Holter, journalist
Toni Petniunas, writer“When my friend, Peggy Holter, told me about this project I remembered all the warrior women I knew who had fought breast cancer with strength and humor. This is a tribute to heroes.” Toni Petniunas
